WNBA Rookie of the Year Debate Could be Over as Incredible History is Made
This season’s WNBA Rookie of the Year debate has been likely the toughest in league’s history as the top two candidates are both generational talents. Both Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky and Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever have broken countless records this season. While they’ve set records together, they’ve even done so separately within the same 24 hours.
In her matchup with the New York Liberty, Clark became the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double. Though it’s not a surprise that she accomplished this feat, it is incredibly impressive. However, Reese may have done one better and sealed the deal on the Rookie of the Year award as she set the WNBA record for most consecutive double-doubles.
To not only set a rookie record, but a league record that was previously set by perhaps the greatest WNBA player ever, is simply ridiculous. Reese may have gotten off to a slow start, but she has rapidly picked up the pace. Many believed after her most recent outing with Clark that she deserves the award, and that opinion is only growing as she continues to impress.
