ABC Spoils Hen’s 9-1-1 Cliffhanger Resolution In Midseason 9 Trailer

ABC releases the trailer for 9-1-1 season 9 winter premiere, and it effectively spoils Hen’s fate. Peter Krause’s unexpected departure as Bobby Nash really changed the game for the hit first-responder procedural. The plot twist was met with a divisive response, with Ryan Murphy’s team still trying to move the project forward from the tragedy. Bobby died in 9-1-1 season 8, which means that the trauma of losing him is still quite fresh.

That said, ABC seems like it’s planning another major character departure from the procedural. In the 9-1-1 season 9 fall finale, Hen went through what appears to be a major health scare, as she struggled with hand tremors. At one point, she even lost consciousness for hours. Nobody from the 118 and its extended family members know what’s going on when the series went dark for its winter break, as 9-1-1 left a major cliffhanger about Hen’s long-term fate.

Ahead of the project coming back for the second half of its year, ABC (via TV Promos) has already spoiled what’s next for Hen after she finally got the courage to figure out what’s wrong with her. Check out the clip below:

As seen in the clip, it appears like Hen actually finds out what’s wrong with her, and it sounds something serious. While the video doesn’t reveal what it actually is, the fact that she tells Athena that it could result in the end of her story, potentially with the Los Angeles Fire Department, suggests that ABC is developing this as a multi-episode arc, at the very least.

For what it’s worth, there hasn’t been any indication that Aisha Hinds is looking to leave the show or that she is being written out. While Bobby’s death set a precedent in terms of the kind of plot twists that the series can pull, it’s doubtful that they are looking to get rid of another major cast member this quickly. 9-1-1 season 9 is meant to rebuild the project, as it hopefully lasts for several more years.

The promotional clip also teases how Hen’s decision can backfire quickly, as she passes out during a call. Whether this happens in the midseason premiere is uncertain, but it suggests that the rest of 118 will eventually find out about her situation, which is better and safer for everyone involved. For now, fans will just have to wait when 9-1-1 season 9 returns in January to learn the rest of Hen’s story.
