It’s time to set your alarms! The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) is on his way back to your screens, this time with a new addition to the TARDIS, Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) as season two of Doctor Who premieres in 2025 on BBC and BBC iPlayer in the UK and Disney+ outside of the UK (where available).
It’s set to be quite the adventure in space and time… here’s everything you need to know!
When does Doctor Who season 2 start on iPlayer and BBC One?

Season two will officially launch on Saturday 12 April at 8am on BBC iPlayer and later that day on BBC One in the UK.
At the same time, those outside of the UK can watch the Doctor and Belinda on their epic adventures on Disney+ where available.
What’s the Doctor Who Season 2 plot?

Audiences join The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) on an epic quest to get Belinda back to Earth.
But a mysterious force is stopping their return and the time-travelling TARDIS team must face great dangers, ferocious enemies and wilder terrors than ever before.

Varada Sethu joins as Belinda Chandra

Like many Doctors who have come before him, one is not enough for the Fifteenth Doctor and in season two, he will have two companions by his side as Varada Sethu steps aboard the TARDIS.
Varada joins the Whoniverse from a galaxy far, far away after starring in the Disney+ Star Wars series Andor. Now she straps in for another journey through time and space alongside Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor and Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday.

Doctor Who Season 2 Guest Stars

There are no shortage of guest stars adventuring with the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa), Belinda (Varada Sethu) and Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson).
Rylan plays himself, the co-host of the Interstellar Song Contest and Alan Cumming voices the villainous cartoon character, Mr Ring-a-Ding.

Anita Dobson, Bonnie Langford, Jemma Redgrave, Caoilfhionn Dunne, Christopher Chung, Evelyn Miller, Ariyon Bakare, Julie Dray and Jonah Hauer-King all feature in the trailer for season 2, with Rose Ayling-Ellis MBE also joining the ranks for a thrilling and frightening adventure.

And Freddie Fox is also joining the Whoniverse in season 2. He’ll play a fearsome villain from another planet in an upcoming episode.
“If audiences enjoy watching it half as much as I did making it, televisions are on course to explode right across the world!”, he says.
Meet the new writers

The TARDIS is getting ready to take viewers on another thrilling journey through time and space, with some new voices joining for season 2.
Juno Dawson, Inua Ellams, Pete McTighe and Sharma Angel-Walfall are the new writers who have stepped on board.
Russell T Davies is showrunner and executive producer. Additional executive producers are Joel Collins, Phil Collinson, Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter.
