Millie Gibson, star of Doctor Who, has hinted at a spine-chilling season finale as the Doctor gears up for an epic showdown.

The fifteenth series of the beloved BBC One sci-fi hit made its comeback in April, whisking audiences away on a rollercoaster ride filled with classic Doctor Who surprises. This weekend, the climax of the series will be broadcast on BBC One and Disney Plus, with fans also having the chance to experience the action in cinemas throughout the UK.

The Doctor is set to confront one of his most daunting challenges yet, and anticipation is high for the emergence of Omega, as Millie Gibson (portraying Ruby Sunday) gives a sneak peek into what’s in store.

The Rani, a notorious Renegade Time Lord and adversary of the Doctor, first emerged in 1985. Now, Anita Dobson joins forces with Emmy Award-winner Archie Panjabi in Doctor Who, with Panjabi portraying the Rani who has been covertly masquerading as Mrs Flood, biding her time to take on the Doctor.

The second part of the two-episode finale picks up from the cliff-hanger conclusion of Wish World. In a previous twist, The Rani (Archie Panjabi) disclosed her grand scheme to liberate Omega, a foundational figure in the Time Lord civilisation, reports Surrey Live.

In conversation with Radio Times, Gibson remarked: “He’s terrifying…I think people are going to be really shocked.”

She elaborated: “I think Archie is just such a cool Rani, she kind of worships Omega. I think it’s a really cool two-villain dynamic. The more the better.

“This is why it’s the biggest battle for the Doctor, there are two of his biggest villains that he has to defeat.”

Archie Panjabi spilled to the BBC about the grand season finale, revealing: “In the finale, we see the Time Lord and the Time Lady go head-to-head in a high-stakes showdown. Who is going to win? Who will claim the victory? And you don’t know what happens next.”

She hinted: “The finale is like two chess players – who will make the final move and play checkmate?”

Fan excitement reached new heights earlier this week when the official Doctor Who Instagram page released a trailer with the caption: “THE REALITY WAR has begun… Tune in to the Season 2 #DoctorWho finale next week”, prompting a wave of enthusiastic fan reactions.

One fan exclaimed: “THIS IS GONNA BE EPIC!”, while another added their wish: “If omega doesn’t show up in his big goofy helmet I’m gonna be so disappointed.”

A third anticipated: “THIS IS GONNA BE BIG. An epic part one.. and i feel this is gonna be an epic part two!”
