Jenna Coleman is reuniting with a key Doctor Who showrunner for a new comedy show, the details of which have been revealed. Coleman starred on the cast of Doctor Who as Clara Oswald, who traveled as a companion of the Eleventh Doctor from season 7 through season 9. She also made a return guest appearance during season 10.
Now, Deadline reports that Coleman will be running with Steven Moffat, Doctor Who‘s showrunner during her tenure, to star in a new comedy series, Number 10. The upcoming show stars Rafe Spall as a fictional Prime Minister of the UK, the name of the series derived from 10 Downing Street. Coleman will star as his deputy, her name yet to be revealed.
The show’s story follows a “fictional and unspecific” regime in the UK, with Spall’s character not meant to be a portrayal of any particular Prime Minister in history. The comedic series hints at a number of events that transpire that will make not even one’s political party matter. In addition to Spall and Coleman, Katherine Kelly will play the Chief of Staff.

While Coleman is best known for her portrayal of Clara in Doctor Who, she’s had numerous high-profile starring roles in TV shows over the years. This includes her portrayal of Lady Johanna Constantine on the cast of The Sandman, Liv Taylor in the psychological thriller miniseries Wilderness, and Ember Manning in crime drama The Jetty.
This will be her first time working together with Moffat since the pair worked on Doctor Who with one another. Moffat was the second showrunner for the sci-fi series’ 2005 reboot, exiting in 2017. He also co-created the BBC’s Sherlock TV series starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular detective. His latest work is the ITVX miniseries Douglas is Cancelled.

Although not much is known about the story of Number 10, the series was commissioned by Gwawr Lloyd, the Acting Head of Channel 4 Drama, for the network. The series will likely depict a comedic but poignant commentary on British leadership, but doing so without singling out one particular person in the government.
Given Coleman‘s proven talent in various role and her previous collaboration with Moffat, Number 10 has chosen a strong star to be part of its major cast. Since she’ll be shining alongside Spall and Kelly, she’ll have plenty of screentime to flex her talent, while likely providing a memorable part of the main trio of characters.
