Ali Larter on the ‘toughest’ and most ‘painful’ scene she shot for Landman season two

Ali Larter revealed the most challenging scene she had to shoot during season two of her hit Paramount+ show Landman – and it didn’t involve a bikini.

The 49-year-old Heroes alum admitted episode nine – titled ‘Plans, Tears, and Sirens’ – in which her character Angela Norris drops her daughter Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) off at TCU cheerleading summer camp ‘was really painful.’

‘I think it was one of the toughest scenes,’ Larter confessed to People on Sunday.

‘Angela feels like it’s a loss in her life, with her daughter leaving. I have a lot of friends that are empty-nesters, and I have seen those ugly sobs.’

The New Jersey-born, Idaho-based beauty is mother to two children – son Theodore, 15; and daughter Vivienne, 11 – from her 16-year marriage to husband Hayes MacArthur.

Larter originally met the 48-year-old Runarounds actor on the set of National Lampoon’s Homo Erectus in 2007.

‘I’ve been hearing from all these mamas about being able to see that [moment], and that it made them emotional,’ the L’Oréal Paris paid partner said.

Larter added: ‘I think that Angela doesn’t really feel like she has a purpose without her daughter. What is her life going to look like, with her growing up?’

As for the Spin the Bottle star’s favorite scenes to shoot, those involve her onscreen husband Billy Bob Thorton.

‘My favorite is when I get to have a real, honest quiet exchange between Tommy and Angela,” Larter gushed.

‘I just love that…I live for those scenes because so much of Angela, when I’m playing her, is high stakes, high emotion, something wild is happening.’

Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace’s small-screen adaptation of Christian Wallace’s 2019 Boomtown podcast also stars Demi Moore, Sam Elliott, Michelle Randolph and Andy Garcia.
