Queen Camilla shares SAD NEWS on the sudden passing: ‘This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with’
Queen Camilla adopted her dog Beth from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in 2011.
Queen Camilla’s “much-loved” rescue dog Beth who featured on her Coronation gown has died.
Camilla, 77, adopted the Jack Russell terrier from Battersea Cats and Dog’s home in London in 2011 when she was just a 12-week-old puppy.
She adopted another dog called Blueball from the rescue centre the following year.
Buckingham Palace announced the sad news on their social media pages on Monday afternoon, alongside a photo montage of the beloved pet.
The post read: “A sad farewell to Beth, the Queen’s much-loved companion from Battersea-Dogs and Cats Home who brought such joy, whether on walkies, helping on official duties or curled up by the fire.”
It is understood Beth had an untreatable tumour and had to be put down at the weekend.
In 2020, the then-Duchess of Cornwall took Beth with her on a visit to Battersea Cats and Dogs Home, where she has been patron since 2016.
Camilla enlisted the help of her dog when unveiling a plaque to mark the visit, with a video showing Beth tugging at the covering with her teeth shared by the Palace.
The Queen has spoken fondly about the important role her dogs have played in her life, and even made sure they featured on her Coronation gown.
The beautiful ivory gown, designed by Bruce Oldfield, saw two gold Jack Russell Terriers embroidered near the trim.
Before being rescued by the charity, Beth was found tied to a post, meanwhile, Bluebell was discovered wandering around in the woods with no fur.
Her Majesty spoke about her love for dogs in the introduction to Top Dogs: A British Love Affair, and said: “They are both colourful characters – and now I cannot imagine my life, my home or my sofas without them.”
