Princess Kate missed out on the 2024 Person of the Year title handed out by Time Magazine on Thursday.

The title was given to Donald Trump, who last month was re-elected president of the United States. The 78-year-old was also previously awarded was also Time’s Person Of The Year in 2016.

According to Time, Kate – who recently stepped out in London for her fourth ‘Together At Christmas’ carol service – had “stirred a conversation about privacy and health for public figures”.

The award, according to Time, would be awarded to the person who has had the biggest impact – good or bad – on the world over the previous year.

Despite stepping away from the royal spotlight for a majority of the year following her cancer diagnosis back in March, Kate has recently made a return to public duty – after making her first appearance of 2024 at this year’s Trooping the Colour in June.

Although she hasn’t be granted the title, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams – prior to the winning announcement – wrote that he believed Kate would have been deserving of the Time accolade due to her “charm, poise and a wonderful flair for fashion, the ideal consort for our future king.”

This time last year, the 42-year-old stepped out alongside her family on Christmas Day – and within weeks, she had undergone abdominal surgery. Despite the successful surgery, it was later confirmed that cancer had been present – although it was previously thought that her condition was non-cancerous.

Kate – who was, at the time, still undergoing treatment – made a surprise appearance at Trooping the Colour alongside Prince William and their children.

In September, in a sweet family video shot in Norfolk by Will Warr, Kate revealed that she had finished her chemotherapy treatment. The proud mother of three recently made an appearance at Westminster Abbey – which is where she married William in 2011 – to attend her Christmas carol service.
