Meghan Markle ‘may never see the light of day’ as she faces growing isolation and challenges!

Meghan Markle’s Netflix cookery and lifestyle show has been in the works for almost a year, but there has been no word on a release date – and now sources are suggesting it may never air

Meghan Markle’s plans to launch her new Netflix cookery and lifestyle show could be in trouble, according to a source from the industry. For nearly a year, there have been rumours that Meghan is creating her own series celebrating ‘the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship’.

However, there’s still no release date for the series, which was meant to complement Meghan’s lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard. Updates have been sparse, with only a few products – namely jam and dog biscuits – being released. A Netflix insider has now told the MailOnline that the Duchess’s eagerly anticipated show “may not see the light of day”.

“Others suggest it might, especially if it boosts Meghan’s lifestyle brand, but it will be ‘make or break’ for the couple who had hopes of building a TV dynasty,” he wrote.

“And after their Polo show flopped, the source said: ‘There won’t be another deal. There may be one offs but that’s it’.” Another source confirmed to the Mail’s Alison Boshoff: “It’s make or break. People say Netflix are exhausted.”

The pressure is certainly mounting for Meghan following the release of Polo on Netflix earlier this month. Critics and viewers were less than impressed. Many took issue with the premise of the documentary itself, noting that the polo field is “the playground of the rich”.

The Telegraph didn’t mince words, calling the series “tedious”, and the Mail on Sunday was equally unimpressed, labelling it a “load of old tosh”. The Guardian wasn’t kinder, predicting that “Polo looks destined to fall through the submenus into obscurity at the speed of light. And rightly so”.

Harry and Meghan’s lucrative Netflix deal, signed in 2020 for a cool $100 million (£80 million), is ticking down to its autumn expiration next year. With their £15 million Spotify contract wrapping up early last June, Tinseltown insiders are buzzing about whether Netflix will renew ties with the Sussexes – but they’re hinting any new agreement won’t come close to those mega-millions, especially given the slim pickings the pair have produced.

If Meghan’s series does get the green light, it’s tipped to debut alongside her brand early this year. Missing from Netflix’s January lineup, it could grace screens post-Invictus Games in late February or in March.
