Prince Harry ‘regretted’ bombshell Megxit statement due to effect it had on key royal
The Duke of Sussex, 40, reportedly regretted the way one key royal found out about his intention to step back from royal duty.

Prince Harry reportedly regrets the way his family found out he was leaving the Royal Family five years ago, despite the fact he is now happy in California.
Back in 2020, the Duke of Sussex, 40, and his wife Meghan Markle, 43, took to social media to announce their intentions to step back from full-time royal life and carve their own way financially.
While this sent shockwaves across the world, it also sent ripples within his own family, including those who had no idea it was coming.
This included his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, who was the reigning monarch at the time.
As reported by the Telegraph, Harry later regretted how he had “blindsided” his grandmother with the announcement by not talking to her first.
A source said at the time: “I don’t think he fully appreciated the impact the statement would have in terms of them not consulting the Queen. He regrets that.”
While he may have some regrets over the way he first handled the situation, the prince seems to have none about his overall decision as he instead has spoken out about how “grateful” he is for being able to live the life he does in America.
This was spoken about in both the Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan, released in 2022, his memoir Spare released in 2023, and most recently last year.
While in conversation with columnist and Dealbook founder Andrew Ross Sorkin at The New York Times DealBook Online Summit on December 4, Harry said: “I very much enjoy living here and bringing my kids up here.”

He continued: “It’s a part of my life that I never thought I was going to live.I feel as though it’s the life that my mum wanted for me.
“To be able to do the things I’m able to do with my kids that I undoubtedly wouldn’t be able to do in the UK — it’s huge. That is a fantastic opportunity and I’m hugely grateful for that.”
The couple first moved overseas in 2020, buying their Montecito mansion in California in June that year.
They have lived there ever since with their two children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
