Meghan Markle’s close pal Abigail Spencer has defended the duchess once again amid the latest wave of criticism, describing her as “the most glorious human being”.

The Duchess of Sussex has been faced with fresh allegations about her behaviour towards staff.

US magazine Vanity Fair published a damning cover story about the duchess last month, in which it claimed that former members of staff, who used to work with Meghan when her deal with Spotify was on, had to allegedly take “breaks from work to escape scrutiny”, leave their job altogether or undergo “long-term therapy”.

The Sussex couple have declined to comment on the latest claims, but sources close to them told the Times they find them”distressing”.

Ms Spencer, who also starred alongside Meghan in the legal drama Suits, attended the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection Concert last week and hit back at the latest criticism about her friend.

Speaking to Page Six at the event, the actress said it’s not easy to read the negative press about the duchess but insisted that people should “get behind her and support her”.

She said: “It’s very painful as a friend.

“But she is the most glorious human being on the planet, and so we just have to get behind her and support her.”

She also revealed that the public are going to get an “authentic, very cool, very lovely insight” into who Meghan really is as a person in her new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, where she also features as one of the guests.

Meghan’s show will feature various guests and friends of the duchess, including her husband, Prince Harry, Mindy Kaling, Daniel Martin and Ms Spencer.

The actress said: “What I love about it is, you know, Meghan is one of my best friends, and I feel like the whole world is going to see, like, an authentic, very cool, very lovely insight into who she actually is as a person.

“You’re also going to learn a lot! I’ve learned a lot from her myself.”

She also confessed the duchess “taught” her how to cook, saying: “Oh my God, I don’t know how to cook. You’ll see on the show, she teaches me.”
