Prince Harry has issued a new statement about one of his “special” visits while in Canada just hours after his wife Meghan Markle marked Valentine’s Day with a sweet message on her social media.
The Duke of Sussex, who is currently in Canada solo for the Invictus Games after the Duchess of Sussex left for California earlier this week, visited the Tsleil-Waututh Nation on day seven of the Games on Friday.
In a statement released on the Sussex website, the visit was described as “special” and “moving” for the duke.
The Tsleil-Waututh, which means People Of The Inlet, is a First Nations government in British Columbia, Canada.
Prince Harry engaged with the local community in what was said to be a bid to promote the significance of nurturing youth and investing in the future of Indigenous communities.

Harry visited the daycare, where he was snapped spending time with children in moments filled with laughter and smiles.
He also met with the Tsleil-Waututh youth ambassadors, who are dedicated to preserving their culture and heritage.
The duke then took part in a traditional blanketing ceremony, in what’s been described as a “profoundly moving moment” and “highlight” for him.
Being blanketed is said to be the highest honour within the First Nation’s culture as it symbolises, respect and recognition of one’s journey.
The statement read: “It is a powerful and sacred gesture that symbolises the warmth and embrace of the community, offering a deep sense of belonging and solidarity.”
Prince Harry expressed his gratitude for being welcomed in such a meaningful way while he also spoke about the commonalities between the First Nations and Invictus communities, stressing the need for recovery through connection, empathy, and mutual support.

The Duke’s statement added that “healing was a central theme throughout the visit, with a shared understanding of the resilience required to overcome adversity and the vital role of community support in that journey.”
Later in the day, the Duke attended the Invictus Games swimming heats.
The statement added: “As the day drew to a close, it became clear that both the Tsleil-Waututh Nation and the Invictus Games share a common thread: the power of community for healing.”
Harry’s statement comes hours after his wife posted a heartfelt message to mark Valentine’s Day on her newly launched Instagram account.
Meghan Markle posted an unseen black and white photograph of herself and Harry looking enamoured, casually dressed as they shared a kiss midway through a meal.

She wrote: “Back home taking care of our babies, and missing my Valentine, as he continues on at the Invictus Games, changing lives and reminding all of us of the power of healing and resilience through these incredible veterans and their families. Beyond proud of my husband and what he’s created.
“My love, I will eat burgers & fries and fish & chips with you forever. Thank you for you #lovewins.”
Meghan recently left the Invictus Games to go back to Montecito, California and look after their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Liliber.
