Princess Kate risks ‘war’ with Meghan Markle over unexpected comment: ‘She knows what she’s doing’

Some believe that this move was a pointed dig at Meghan’s premium-priced preserves.
According to royal commentator Charles Rae, Kate’s decision to share her jam recipe for free during her recent visit to Wales starkly contrasts with Meghan’s upcoming luxury jam launch.

Princess Kate starts ‘jam war’ with Meghan Markle
The moment unfolded during Kate and husband Prince William’s visit to a community garden in Wales.
When chatting with the young gardeners, Kate generously offered to send them her homemade plum jam recipe.
“I’ll send you my plum jam recipe so you can try it,” she said.
Prince William enthusiastically praised his wife, calling her jam “amazing”.
“I think she knows exactly what she’s doing here, especially as she makes her own plum jam,” royal commentator Charles told GB News. “And she’s now giving that recipe for free to a well-wisher. I suspect that Kensington Palace is going to get flooded with requests for that recipe.”
Meanwhile, Meghan recently teased her jam launch under her newly rebranded lifestyle brand, As Ever.
The price tag – reportedly between £25-£30 per jar – has sparked comparisons with jam sold at King Charles’ Highgrove Estate, which retails for around £7 per jar.
I think she knows exactly what she’s doing here, especially as she makes her own plum jam.
Charles pointed out the dramatic price difference.
“Now, contrastingly, you’ve got Meghan, who’s now producing some jam. I think it’s a strawberry jam. And that is going to cost you £25 to £30 a pop,” he continued.
“That is four times more than a pot of jam that you could buy at the Highgrove Royal shop. That’s Charles’ estate. So he’s selling jam as well. We’ve got jam wars going on.”

With Love, Meghan set to premiere on Netflix in March
This isn’t the first time Kate has showcased her love for homemade preserves.
In 2012, the then-Duchess of Cambridge reportedly gifted homemade jars of strawberry and plum jam as Christmas presents to family and friends.
Many royal watchers noticed Kate’s recent jam comment and took to social media to share their thoughts.
“I doubt Kate has ever made plum jam – this is just a competitive statement with Meghan’s jam!” One tweeted.
“Awww look how desperate William and Kate are to steal Meghan’s thunder,” a Meghan and Harry fan added.
Even royal commentator Russell Myers addressed the controversy. During an appearance on ITV daytime show Lorraine, he joked: “Everyone has of course lost their minds over this because the duchesses and the princesses must be at war!”
Meanwhile, just hours after Kate’s jam comment, Meghan released a teaser for her upcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
The eight-episode show will premiere next Tuesday (March 4).
It is said to focus on Meghan sharing personal tips and tricks on cooking, gardening and hosting.
The series’ launch date was delayed due to the California wildfires in January.
