Meghan Markle and Gwyneth Paltrow have appeared together in a shock new video addressing their “beef”. The two US actresses turned entrepreneurs appeared together in an Instagram video as they denied their alleged rivalry, while seemingly sat in Paltrow’s kitchen at her mansion in Montecito – the same LA neighbourhood where Meghan lives with Prince Harry.

Paltrow shared an insight into her relationship with Meghan in the short clip, after an Instagram user asked: “Are you comprehending the Meghan Markle beef that social media says you two have?” The 52-year-old Goop founder replied: “I genuinely do not understand this at all, whatsoever.” She then added, “Do you understand this?” and turned the camera to reveal Meghan, 43, sat next to her, shrugging and taking a bite from a piece of pie.

The lighthearted jab at rumours of a feud comes after fans accused Paltrow of shading the Duchess of Sussex in a recent social media post.

Meghan’s new Netflix series With Love, Meghan, drew criticism for its star’s perceived attempt to emulate Paltrow – specifically her multi-billion-dollar wellness brand Goop, which she founded in 2008 and is currently worth around $250 million (£193 million).

Speculation about a rift between the two LA neighbours went into overdrive after Paltrow uploaded a video of herself to Instagram cooking breakfast and petting her dog, in a montage not dissimilar from scenes in With Love, Meghan.

The 52-year-old also raised eyebrows after telling Vanity Fair last week that she “doesn’t know” Meghan and Harry – a comment that was interpreted by many as a snub of the Duchess’s well-publicised attempts to pivot to the health and wellbeing space.

“I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all,” Paltrow said. “Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.”

She also dismissed talk of competition between the two women in the same interview, telling the magazine: “I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes.”

“I think there’s always more than enough to go around,” she added. “Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try.”
