One of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s closest allies has reportedly claimed that the former monarch had long-standing doubts about Meghan Markle’s motives in marrying Prince Harry.

Lady Elizabeth Anson, one of the late Queen’s cousins, reportedly told journalist Sally Bedell Smith that in the run-up to the 2018 wedding of the year, Her Majesty was having doubts about the suitability of the former Suits actress.

The Duke of Sussex had allegedly been rude to Queen Elizabeth while discussing the marriage and Ms Anson claimed that whilst there was “hope” in royal circles that Meghan was “in love” with Harry, they didn’t “quite think” it to be true, adding, “We think she engineered it all.”
