Royal Tragedy: King Charles in Shock Over the Loss of Close Friend
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Captain Ian Farquhar, a close friend of King Charles. He passed away at the age of 78, leaving a significant void in the hearts of the royal family and those who admired him.
Lan Farquhar had a long-standing connection with King Charles and Queen Camilla. Not only was he a loyal friend, but he also served as a rider for the Queen Mother. Besides being an outstanding hunter and horseman, Ian also served in the Queen’s Own Hussars.
Lan’s passing is a heavy blow to King Charles, especially as he is currently battling cancer. This is the second significant loss in just a week, following the death of Lord Rothschild at the age of 87.
Lan’s daughter, Rose Farquhar, shared fond memories with Prince William during his gap year in 2000. They enjoyed sweet picnics together in the Gloucestershire countryside, where Ian had rented a farmhouse on King Charles’s Highgrove estate for many years.
Stephen Parker Bowles, the first husband of Queen Camilla, shared with the Daily Mail that Ian had been gravely ill in recent times. Early Wednesday morning, Andy announced that Ian had passed away at Highgrove.
“He was as wild as a hawk when he was young, but always a lot of fun,” Stephen Parker Bowles said. He also added that Ian would be remembered as “one of the greatest Masters of Hounds.”
Ian held the position of Master of the Beaufort Hunt for 34 years. To honor their former master, Beaufort Hunt wrote on Instagram: “It breaks our hearts to send our love and condolences to the family and friends of our dear Captain Ian Farquhar. It was an honor to have him lead us for 34 years. He passed away peacefully this week.”
Lan Farquhar was loved and respected by those who hunted alongside him. He was always friendly, ready to help, and eager to share brilliant new ideas with anyone who asked. “He was very funny, and those lucky enough to be with him and hear about his thrilling and diverse life in the army and as a hunter will always cherish those moments.”
Ian deeply loved his family, his dogs, and his hounds. We know that up there, a whole pack of dogs will be eagerly waiting to see him again. “He loved his country and was a true gentleman. He will be sorely missed.”
