Teen Mom star Bariki “Bar” Smith has been arrested in Nevada on harassment and kidnapping charges. It has been confirmed that the charges are in relation to an altercation with Ashley Jones. Here are the details of his arrest and the alleged kidnapping involving Ashley.

Bariki ‘Bar’ Smith Arrested On Several Felony Charges

Apparently, there was a warrant out for Bar’s arrest on July 4 for “failure to pay.” This was likely referring to back child support. The warrant was still active at the time of his arrest on July 7 and now the Teen Mom star is facing additional charges.

In addition to his “failure to pay” warrant, he is looking at multiple felony charges, including second-degree kidnapping and coercion domestic violence with the threat of or using physical force. Bar was also charged with a misdemeanor harassment charge.

Right now, it is not clear why the MTV star was charged with these crimes. However, he could face serious time if convicted. The second-degree kidnapping charge alone can land him in prison for up to 15 years. Fines for the crime can also stack up to $15,000.

His mother, Shen, piped up on social media about what was going on with her son. She said that she doesn’t know what happened, but she is meeting with a lawyer and the district attorney to gain clarity on the matter.

As of Wednesday, the Teen Mom star was being held on $35,000 bond. He is set to see a judge on Friday, July 12.

Teen Mom Star Ashley Jones Is Done With Bar

Teen Mom fans know that this is far from Bar’s first run-in with law enforcement. In August 2022, he was arrested on felony charges of being a fugitive from another state. This charge stemmed from a previous incident in May 2021 when he was arrested for “willful discharge of a firearm in a negligent manner.” He failed to appear in court for the firearm charges and a bench warrant was put out for his arrest.

Many of his legal issues were documented in Teen Mom: The Next Chapter Season One. Bar was ordered to complete 100 hours of community service and failed to carry out the sentence. When he didn’t complete the court-ordered community service, Ashley Jones seemed to be over their relationship.

“I’m not tired of playing his woman, I’m tired of playing his mama,” she told her mom at the time.

Bariki “Bar” Smith and Ashley Jones share one daughter together, Holly. The pair initially got together in 2015 and Ashley got pregnant fairly soon after they met. She was only 19 years old when Holly was born in September 2017. They made their television debut on Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant in March 2018.

Ashley Jones has not commented on Bar’s most recent arrest,  but it’s safe to say she’s moved on. On Monday, July 8, she shared a snapshot of herself in the arms of an unknown man, solidifying the end of their relationship.
