Teen Mom stars, Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra’s original adoption agreement has been revealed. As fans may recall, they gave their daughter, Carly up for adoption when they were teenagers. It was intended to be an open adoption and worked very well until recently. So, is there more to the adoption than many may be aware of? Keep reading for further details.

Teen Mom Catelynn & Tyler’s OG Adoption Agreement Revealed

When Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra first appeared on 16 & Pregnant, they were expecting a baby girl. Yet, the couple had very rough upbringings and wanted better for their baby. Therefore, they chose adoption which their parents were vehemently against. It was the hardest decision they had ever made but they were fortunate enough to have an open adoption. This meant that they would get updates on their daughter, Carly from her adoptive parents, Teresa and Brandon. They even had visitation and it helped ease some of the pain. Tyler and Cate went on to have three more daughters and get married, an event Carly attended.

Unfortunately, as Carly approached fifteen, Catelynn and Tyler were not allowed to see her which they took very hard. They went on social media to express their frustration, mainly Catelynn who was broken by this. She soon revealed Teresa had blocked her and could no longer contact Carly. In the new season of Teen Mom, she breaks down how she tried to reach out and has been cut off. So, that makes fans wonder what the original adoption agreement stated and if Cate and Tyler possibly overstepped.

The agreement has resurfaced and Brandon and Teresa are not obligated to do anything. More so, they were allowed to determine what was in the best interest of Carly. The documents were shown in a Reddit thread for clarity under the “Communication” section.

It specifically states that Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra may request visits with Carly as she grows up but it is all up to Brandon and Teresa.

Miscommunication Or Something Else?

Brandon and Teresa Davis hold the cards in the adoption, mainly as Carly got older. They were the ones who could determine what was in the best interest of their daughter. However, it seems Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra may have conveniently missed that part of the agreement. Since it was an open adoption, they may have believed that meant at their discretion and not the Davis family. So, was it a miscommunication or do they just want to see Carly? Fans weighed in and they were very mixed:

• I think all parties involved have some blame
• I think in this case the adoption was predatory and Brandon & Teresa last time I looked into them were a little weird conservative Christian couple who had taken advantage of these teenagers.
• It is so sad to me because these two had no idea what this decision would actually feel like when they became older.
• C&T were overreaching. Texting photos all the time (here’s her sisters on vacation!) , sending items with sisters on it when asked not to.

The one place that was brought up repeatedly was Bethany Christian Services. They had a part in this and some followers are alleging they did some shady business so it is all very murky. In the end, many are now saying that Cate and Tyler were young and just wanted the best for Carly. That was taken advantage of and now they are spiraling, trying to gain access to her. Right or wrong, it is a very sad situation.
