Amber Portwood’s Daughter Leah Goes Back To School
A Teen Mom fan page shared a first-day-of-school photo of Leah next to her half-sister, Emilee. In the caption, @teenmomfanz wrote, “First day of 10th grade for Leah & 4th grade for Emilee. Hoping they have a great school year!”
Fans flooded the comments with well wishes, but many people could not fathom Leah going into 10th grade. “10th grade???? In a blink of an eye, she’ll be graduating high school,” one fan wrote. Another chimed in, “10th grade?? That’s crazy they got so big and look so beautiful.”
Other commenters wondered about Leah’s relationship with her mother, Amber Portwood. In the latest season of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, fans saw several cringe-worthy moments between Amber and her daughter.
Specifically, the interaction between the two during Leah’s birthday dinner sent viewers reeling. Amber not only showed up late to the restaurant, but she also wound up making Leah cry. She wound up leaving the table with her stepmom, Kristina.

More recently, the news broke that Leah blocked her mom on social media, which didn’t come as a surprise to many people. Leah has been fairly vocal about wanting to distance herself from her mom due to her actions.
In the comment section, one fan wondered if Gary and Kristina would continue to push Leah to have a relationship with Amber after she turns 18. “Because it looks like Leah might say deuces to Amber,” the commenter concluded.
A few other Instagram users responded, pointing out that Leah has already started to pull herself away from Amber. Ultimately, it seems like Leah is tired of her mom’s excuses and, after the birthday fiasco, her dad likely won’t push her to have a relationship with Amber anymore.
Not to mention, Leah has expressed that she wants to be adopted by Gary’s wife, Kristina. She’s been around for most of Leah’s life and has certainly been a better caregiver than her own mother.
Texts from the Teen Mom star about her daughter surfaced a few weeks ago. In the messages, Amber Portwood says that she has done “everything to be in her life” and has “gotten sh*t on.” She stated that she’s excluded from everything to do with Leah, and she can’t understand why.
“You would think I used to beat the living sh*t out of her how I’m excluded from her life,” she exclaimed in the texts. However, it doesn’t seem like things are going to change. Leah doesn’t want to pursue a relationship with her bio mom.
