Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have “open their home” to those fleeing California wildfires after after encouraging others to do the same.

The Telegraph has revealed that as well as opening their own home to “friends and loved ones forced to evacuate”, the Duke and Duchess are also understood to have contributed clothing, children’s items, and other essential supplies to those affected.

This news comes shortly after the couple took to their website encourage people to help if they can, writing on Sussex.com, “If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do. And be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbours to see if they need help evacuating.

“Some families and people have been left with nothing. Please consider donating clothing, children’s toys and clothing, and other essentials. The American Red Cross is on the ground helping those in need.”

The couple – who love in Montecito with their two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three – have also been in contact with chef José Andrés and are working alongside his World Central Kitchen organisation, which supplies meals to communities in the wake of natural disasters.

As recovery efforts begin, the Archewell team plan on taking time to seek opportunities to volunteer where needed and specifically, will look to support mental health recovery.

Amid news of the fires, Billy Crystal, Jamie Lee Curtis and Paris Hilton are just a few of the celebrities whose homes have been impacted by the catastrophe.
