Shock Move: Kate Middleton once forced to ‘step in’ when another woman was flirting with Prince William!
The future king was reportedly “too polite” to turn girls away – so Kate came up with a crafty trick to keep them at bay…
Kate Middleton and Prince William at uni
Kate and Prince William first met in 2001, when they went to St Andrews University in Scotland together.
They were staying in the same halls of residence at the time – St Salvator’s. They both studied art history and were good pals for a while before they began dating.
Kate was the only girl in the room who could have done that.
Prior to getting together, girls would apparently flock to Prince William in the hope of becoming future queen.
However, the young prince was “too polite” to turn girls away – meaning Kate was forced to save the day. Before they were even together, Kate pretended to be William’s girlfriend in a bid to make other women stay away.
A friend of the couple, Laura Warshauer, once explained how Kate would keep other girls at bay in the book, Kate: The Future Queen, by royal author Katie Nicholl.
Trick used by Princess Kate to keep girls away from William
Speaking in the book, Laura said: “Will was getting really hit on by this girl at a party and it was getting quite uncomfortable because he couldn’t shake her off.
“He was being really polite, but this girl just didn’t get the hint. All of a sudden Kate came up behind him and put her arms around him. He said ‘Oh, sorry, but I’ve got a girlfriend,’ and he and Kate went off giggling.
“Kate was the only girl in the room who could have done that. And that was just a month after we started university.”
They began dating during their first year in university and the rest, they say, is history.
King has ‘learnt’ from Kate amid cancer battle
In other Kate related news, a former royal butler has claimed that the king has “learnt” from his daughter-in-law Kate amid their cancer battles.
Last year, both King Charles and Kate announced that they had been diagnosed with cancer. While Kate is now in remission, the king continues his treatment.
Speaking exclusively to Royal Insider on behalf of Spin Genie, Grant Harrold said: “Kate has managed to successfully fight this [cancer] away from the public eye while also keeping everyone in the loop.”
“The public never really got to see any of that before and it helps the public warm to them and see them as humans. Charles would’ve learnt from Kate, just like he learnt from Diana,” he then continued.
“I think the way they’ve opened up about personal and health matters as well as showing off their sense of humour and caring side at times, it shows they are a very modern royal family.”
“The public love that and it’s very clever and good PR and will help secure the role of the royal family for many generations to come,” he added.
