The Princess of Wales reportedly finds it “enormously difficult” when, during engagements, the spotlight is put on her outfits rather than her charity work.

Since Kate wed Prince William in April 2011, Kensington Palace has regularly shared details of her outfits to select members of the press.

However, this will soon end as her health battle has given her “a new perspective on everything” and no longer wants the spotlight to be on what clothes she wears, it is claimed.

It is understood that Kensington Palace may issue details of the royal’s outfits on the most important events but not for other royal duties.

A palace source has claimed that the mother of three wants to ensure the focus remains on the “issues, people, and the causes she is spotlighting”, rather than her clothing. Although she appreciates there will always be interest in what she “wearing from some of the public”.

“There is an absolute feeling that it [the public work] is not about what the princess is wearing,” a palace source told The Times.

“There will always be an appreciation of what the princess is wearing from some of the public and she gets that.

A close friend of the princess claimed that Kate understood the interest in what she was wearing if she was attending a film premiere or Trooping of the Colour.

However, Kate found it “enormously difficult” for the central focus to be her clothes, rather than her work, particularly when she first began her royal duties.

They told the publication: “[She] was she was going out and doing the work she was interested in and was hugely important to her, and people just talked about what she was wearing.”

No details of the Princess’s outfits were announced when she carried out two engagements in South Wales earlier this week. On Thursday, she visited Corgi, a family-run business in Ammanford, near Swansea, which specialises in handmade socks and knitwear, as well as a hospice providing care for children.
