Meghan Markle appeared to take a swipe at the Royal Family and the struggles she has faced in the past with a telling eight-word comment in her new Netflix show. The Duchess of Sussex stars in all eight episodes of With Love, Meghan, in which she welcomes different guests while she shares hosting tips and tricks with them.

In episode seven, Meghan talks about the concept of an individual or object being enhanced by its flaws with her friend, entrepreneur Vicky Tsai, who introduced her to the idea. While there is no direct mention of the Royal Family in the show, it is at that moment that she appears to make a subtle dig at her estranged in-laws and her past troubles, saying, “If you’ve been through something, you’re not broken”. As the two women cooked together, the duchess said: “You gave me this idea; I think it’s so meaningful that if you break something that is precious and valuable, it’s not broken.”

She added: “You taught me this, that that fracture actually makes it more beautiful, that break makes it more beautiful.

“And I just think that it felt really symbolic of saying to anyone, ‘if you’ve been through something, you’re not broken, it can be fixed, it can be sealed and healed at the same time’.”

Ms Tsai, who is the co-founder of luxury skincare brand Tatcha, said: “Or celebrated because it’s what makes you beautiful. Perfect isn’t beautiful.

“Things that have lived and been dropped and put back together again are more beautiful.”

Meghan’s new show has received mixed reviews from fans and was blasted by critics.

One review in The Guardian described it as a “gormless lifestyle filler” and “so pointless it might be the Sussexes’ last TV show”, while The Telegraph gave it two stars and branded it “insane” and an “exercise in narcissism”.
