Katherine Ryan and Meghan Markle’s history as comedian slams duchess for ‘lying’ about Prince Harry
However, in a new twist, the comedian has reportedly laid into the duchess and slammed her for being “too Hollywood” for her.

“I liked Meghan Markle. I was rooting for Meghan Markle. She is very Hollywood – even for me – and I don’t like that in people,” Katherine fumed on her Telling Everybody Everything podcast in wake of discussion surrounding Meghan’s new show, With Love, Meghan.
She went on to say: “I see now, and maybe it’s just the projects she’s choosing, it does feel like she has lied about whether she knew who Prince Harry was, and these details about her childhood change and don’t add up.”

However, back in 2022, the comedian gushed about Meghan saying she loved “Meghan’s voice and her confidence to challenge the norm”.
It seems Katherine has really changed her tune as she said on her podcast: “She said on her new Netflix show that they ate TV dinners growing up.
“But then in an old interview, she was like, ‘we would eat farm fresh.’ Her whole act just seems very manicured and very forced.”
Katherine, who was born in Canada but now lives in London with her three children and partner, said she found Meghan’s “flower sprinkles” particularly off-putting.
She said: “I have seen this. I have seen it from chefs – they like to put wild flowers on a meal. And I’m not about it. I also don’t think it constitutes an entire cooking show.”

She continued: “People are hate-watching it though. Who knows what Netflix are doing? They are smart – whether they love something or hate something, whatever keeps them watching more episodes.
“If this was Netflix’s intention, to be like, let’s throw Meghan under the bus where even people who really liked her are turning… not against her, but… she just doesn’t seem to be the kind of gal I would want to be friends with. It’s too manicured. It’s too beige.”
Katherine also commented on Meghan’s comments about changing her surname to Sussex. She said: “I think less of women who change their name anyway, to match their husband’s name. Unless you have had a chat about it and unless you have approached that decision with equality.
“Let’s be honest about why you’re choosing Sussex. It’s a way to hang on to the Duchess of Sussex.”

It seems that the star has changed her mind drastically since sharing her support for the duchess in 2022.
Katherine admitted she didn’t know what made Meghan a ‘target’
Whilst chatting to Express.co.uk in 2022, Katherine was asked why she thinks Meghan is so heavily criticised and whether it had anything to do with her position as a woman.
Katherine replied at the time: “I think when you join into such an infamous family, then you’re under the microscope. I believe that anyone, certainly any woman who deviates from what is expected of them is going to face criticism. So I certainly think that I love Meghan Markle’s voice and her confidence to challenge the norm and what’s expected of her in that role.

“But equally anytime that you challenge an idea people are going to come after you. So, I mean I’m not exactly sure what makes her such a target, but I think it’s her confidence in challenging the shape of what a woman in that role should like, which is someone who wears stockings.
“Someone who covers their shoulders, someone who follows the rules. I feel like I would find it very challenging being real because many of us couldn’t fit into those constraints very easily. It would feel like a real infringement on your sense of personal freedom. So, I don’t understand why people feel so aggravated by that, I think it’s a great challenge and things evolve.”
